Lovers Lane United Methodist Church has a rich history of serving in God's name throughout our community and around the world. Throughout the year, we offer multiple opportunities to serve those in need through events and activities on our campus or by going into the world and witnessing the need first hand. We also partner with several ministries that we invite you to learn more and about and support with your time and gifts.
Emergency Relief: Food Insecurity
Many of our neighbors are facing sudden and unexpected challenges putting food on the table as SNAP and STAR food assistance programs have been disrupted during the ongoing government shutdown. As people of faith, we are called to respond with love and generosity to remind our community that no one walks through hard times alone. Together, we can share food, time, and hope in three meaningful ways:
- Pray. Lift up those who are struggling to meet their daily needs and pray for our leaders to find a swift and compassionate resolution.
- Give. Make a financial gift to our ministry partner Now Forward (formerly North Dallas Shared Ministries), which provides food to families in need. Your gift allows them to purchase bulk food at reduced costs. Click here to give to Now Forward, and please note Lovers Lane UMC in the notes section.
- Serve. Help meet the increased demand by volunteering with Now Forward. They need interviewers to welcome and gather information from families (training is provided, but a kind and patient heart is what matters most), as well as receptionists and Clothes Closet volunteers.
