What is Confirmation?
A confirmation experience can vary from church to church, from person to person, and from generation to generation. We have discovered that confirmation is not just another badge of honor or something to check off a child’s “to-do” list, but rather a time where a student gets to get out of the boat and discover faith and all that it is with new eyes. We have looked at different curriculums, been to conferences, and talked with other churches and have come to discover 9 basic and essential truths to the Christian faith. They’re not simple or watered down and may not be figured out in our class, but this is the beginning of a journey, not the end. Through weekly teachings, service projects, and special outings, our prayer and hope is to radically change a student as they make their faith their own.
What is Required?
During this experience, all confirmands will be expected to attend every class. If a confirmand misses one class, there will be a make-up class the following Sunday at 4 pm. If any student doesn’t make up class, they will be asked to take Confirmation again the following semester. Confirmands will also be expected to complete 10 service hours and serve communion once. Also, confirmands will be required to have the Message: REMIX Bible and bring it to every class. It is available for purchase in our bookstore.
Parent Track
Confirmation is a monumental experience for students and we want parents to be better equipped to further discuss what their kids are learning each week. As part of the the semester, we will offer a Parent Track at the same time as Confirmation for parents.
