Volunteer Opportunities
Lovers Lane UMC is about loving all people into a relationship with Jesus Christ. To us, serving is not just one more thing to do every week. In fact, we believe that service is something that God has called us to do—it enables us to live our lives with relevance and truly impact the world. When you serve at Lovers Lane, you’ll get to explore how God has created you with specific gifts, passions, and skills to further his kingdom right here on earth.

Volunteer at Renewed Spirit Prison Ministry
Now recruiting Female Volunteers for Women’s Prison Ministry at Dawson State Jail in downtown Dallas. Renewed Spirit serves under the umbrella of Texas HOPE Literacy. The women in this faith-based program are either students (working to earn their GED) or peer educators (assisting others in their efforts to do so). Volunteer service opportunities include: Small group discussion leader for parenting or Bible class, math &/or literacy coach, and crochet instructor. If you don’t feel led to serve, we can use your support for materials: $10 will sponsor one woman for one program. Prayers always encouraged! For more information, contact Jan Evans at 972-788-4496 or jlightfoot@evansgrp.com.
Job Placement Assistance
Having left their homeland as political refugees, many new families at Lovers Lane are searching for jobs. Please consider helping to teach our Heart of Africa brothers and sisters how to create skills inventories, write resumes and conduct Internet job searches. Only a few hours of your time per week can change lives. If you are aware of any job openings, please send details to Rev. Christian Kakez-A-Kapend at ckakez-a-kapend@llumc.org or Rev. Mai Le at mle@llumc.org.
Feed the homeless at The Bridge
Volunteers are needed for Stewpot Ministry on the 3rd Friday of every month, leaving the church at 10:45 a.m. and returning by 1:30 p.m. Please call Beverly Shults, 214-739-1216, if you are available and would like to serve.
