I have decided that we should be a church of a single issue.

The single issue is not diversity. We are not going to seek diversity or a multi-cultural congregation because it’s cool and different. Creating diversity or bringing people together in love is not an original idea. It was the idea of Jesus on the cross, but diversity is not our single issue.

I knew when I envisioned the ‘Fraidy Cat’ series that it would be challenging to this pastor, and everyone who stepped into a Lovers Lane pulpit. I think we have all been challenged, whether in the pulpit or the pew.

We are saddened to share the news that David McLaurin, our beloved friend and former Lovers Lane Director of Outreach (and various other titles over the past 21 years), passed away at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Baylor Hospital.
