Frequently Asked Questions
What’s Happening January 8th?
January 8th is the date we launch our new Sunday morning format. Here are the details:
9:30 will now be our discipleship hour (no worship at 9:30) built around what we’re calling “Bible Communities”. To launch Bible communities, this 9:30 hour will feature a new fellowship led by Dr. John & Punky Tolson. 10:50 Sanctuary & Crosswalk worship will replace our 11:00 services. Every first Sunday, all 10:50 fellowships (Heart of Africa, Zimbabwe, and Deaf Fellowship) will join the worship service in the Sanctuary for an hour of “World Communion Worship”.
Why Are we changing things?
We want Lovers Lane to reflect three words in everything that we do:
Simple.. Strong.. Spirited. The 9:30 hour will highlight the importance of teaching, relationships, & discipleship. The Bible Communities will be scripturally-based teaching that encourages those both familiar & unfamiliar with church to learn, grow, & engage in their faith journey. As much as 9:30 is about these bible communities, all worship services will be devoted to exactly that: worship. Passionate, inspirational, spirited worship.
What Are Bible Communities?
Bible Communities are times of quality teaching & authentic fellowship built around biblical truths. If you come to a Bible Community, you will be encouraged to learn, grow, & engage in your faith, no matter where you are on your path.
What is “The Basics” all about?
The Basics is all about using Biblical truths and time-tested advice to help bring balance to your life. This new group will be led by Dr. John and Punky Tolson. Ideal for families with young children, young couples and young singles, but ALL are welcome.
Who are John & Punky Tolson?
In addition to being the former chaplain for many pro-sports teams (including the Dallas Cowboys), John and Punky have devoted their ministry to one-on-one mentoring. For more about their background, read our news blog.
Will my class / group still be meeting?
All classes and groups have opted to continue meeting at their regularly scheduled times except Real Family and Sharing the Faith. These two will merge into The Basics fellowship. For the full list, click here.
Why is the 11:00 worship starting 10 minutes earlier?
These extra few minutes will allow our pastors to prepare for Baptisms and Communion, which will take place in the Shepherd’s Garden on specific Sundays at noon.
What will “World Communion Worship” be like?
On the first Sunday of every month, our 10:50 worship will feature meaningful participation by our Heart of Africa and Zimbabwe Fellowships. This service will be high-energy and celebratory with a global, world emphasis.
Will we have enough parking?
We realize that offering new fellowships and condensing three worship hours into two will cause more cars to be on campus. While this may pose some issues, the way we see it, the more, the merrier! In order to make room for all of our guests, we ask that able-bodied members & those without young children please begin parking in the Meadowbrook (red parking) or CSD (purple parking) lots. Please refer to the parking map, if unsure where to go. Thanks for your cooperation!
