Dallas Mission July 27-30, 2017
Dallas Mission was a local initiative by the Student Ministry of Lovers Lane United Methodist for a couple summers until we partnered with a few other local United Methodist groups to form a colabroation of serving, worshiping and being in community with one another over a weekend in the summer.
2016 Partners: Christ Foundry, Elmwood - El buen Samaritano, Lovers Lane, Northaven, St. Paul
The SERVICE work is light construction of homes in the south Dallas area in partnership with People Helping People and the City of Dallas Housing Authority. We do siding repair, handrails, porches and of course lot of painting. Besides the efforts of helping those in need with their homes we build relationships with the homeowners and hope to share the light of Christ into these communities through our work.
The WORSHIP is enganging and uplfting. Something is amazing when we center the weekend in worship and prayer to our Lord. The service, play and community is built on the community that we are in God. Many of the participating churches come from many different styles of worship and churches, but on this weekend we can come together with God as our center.
The COMMUNITY is beautiful. One of the other best things we can do is play together. There are special nights fo activities and play that brings us all together. It is important to play together in order to get to know one another better.
